Job Description / Duties

Volunteer Burnaby is looking for the next ideal team member to maintain and improved our foot print in the community. The Community Engagement Coordinator plans, develops, manages, and promotes activities within Burnaby and New Westminster consistent with competencies of the Burnaby Volunteer Centre services. It is a member of the team under the leadership of Executive Director within a self-directed work team model. Oversees organizational communications and works directly with municipal, provincial and federal government agencies, volunteers, and non-profits.

Qualifications / Required Skills

The ideal candidate will professionally represent the agency in the community and interact with all staff, clients, and volunteers in a polite and courteous manner, while supporting and implementing the decisions of the Board efficiently and effectively. Experience in volunteer management and/or community development an asset or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Good grant and promotional writing skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle. Multilingual is not required but an asset. Some evenings and weekends are required.

Additional Information

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, evaluation, and recognition.

· Manage special events and related programming as identified by Volunteer Burnaby (including VBHive Special Events Team, Christmas Gift Wrap Program and Burnaby community events and festivals).

· Respond to calls to promote volunteerism as part of VB public relations activities.

· Manage summer employment program participants.

· Other areas as assigned by the Executive Director

· Oversee organizational communications.

This job description will be used in conjunction with an employee contract, which articulates anticipated outcomes, goals, and objectives for the position.
