Job Description / Duties

Coordinate all aspects of the Volunteer Engagement Cycle to ensure an inspiring, engaging and impactful volunteer program. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

Administration
• Manage the volunteer database, demonstrating a commitment to the integrity of volunteer information.
• Coordinate the onboarding process, managing timelines, tasks, resources required, and ensuring integrity of the process.
• Create and monitor volunteer schedules, working with stakeholders to guarantee operational needs are met.
• Monitor and action volunteer training needs, including updating manuals, facilitating training and collaborating with departments to ensure information is shared.

Engagement
• Identify and action opportunities to support volunteer growth and engagement, including coaching/mentorship, training and tracking volunteer perks.
• Build and maintain relationships with WinSport departments and community partnership organizations to engage volunteers in enhanced opportunities.
• Facilitate trainings, orientations, and activities, including presentations to Volunteers, parents, Paid Team Members and the public.
• Actively participate in the guest experience at WinSport, role modelling initiative and creativity.

Recruitment
• Utilizing creativity, build and execute effective recruitment strategies to meet the continuous growth of opportunities and activities, to meet the needs of WinSport operations.

Coaching and Mentorship
• Provide feedback, performance management, and guidance to Volunteers.
• Coordinate and support the facilitation of the Youth Leadership Program, including Leadership Training and the Youth Leadership committee.
• Coach department leads to build understanding of their role in supporting and mentoring volunteers

Additional Work Expectations
• Work on special projects as required.
• Demonstrate a safe work practice at all times by adhering to all WinSport safety policy and procedures, and ensure one’s own safety is preserved along with the safety of co-workers and WinSport guests.
• Be mindful of all safety hazards/concerns within the work environment, and ensure all safety issues are reported to the appropriate individuals.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Required Skills

• Demonstrated experience leading volunteers
• Experience working with MS Office and managing a database
• CVA designation or working towards the CVA designation
• Excellent attention to detail, with strong organizational and administrative skills
• Demonstrated ability to pivot through multiple priorities, while making sure tasks are completed on time.
• Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to relate and engage with a wide range of demographics.
• Effective written, speaking, and non-verbal communication skills, with comfort in public speaking
• Confident decision maker and creative problem solver, with the ability to take initiative, coordinate with others and follow through in a fast-paced working environment.
• Open to working a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the Volunteer Program (some evening and weekend work required.)
• Experience working with youth, including coaching for performance and/or mentoring is an asset.
