Category: OtherThe Corporation of Delta has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and energetic person who is interested in the challenging and expanding field in recreation working with volunteers and people with disabilities.
This is specialized recreational work in the planning, development and implementation of various volunteer programs as well as all aspects of inclusion of people with disabilities in recreation services and programs in the community. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of volunteer programs for special events, community recreation and Aquatic programs, the Snow Angels program, parks and volunteers for people with disabilities. This includes the recruitment, training, orientation, assessment, recognition, and mentoring of volunteers and maintenance of related statistical data. To ensure consistency of appropriate volunteer practices in Delta, the successful candidate will work closely with other departments with volunteer programs.
Candidates will have college or university graduation in a discipline related to the work with courses in recreation plus sound related experience OR an equivalent combination of training and experience. Experience with Better Impact Volunteer Management Software would be considered an asset. You should be able to work well independently and as a part of the Parks, Recreation and Culture team, have a personal interest and experience in training and working with volunteers and people with disabilities. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License is required.
The Corporation of Delta provides a competitive salary of $29.77 - $35.04 per hour (commensurate with experience); and an excellent benefits package including Municipal Pension Plan as well as an earned-days-off system.
