The Volunteer Resources Program Assistant has a passion for volunteerism and provides assistance and administrative support to a variety of volunteer resource services. The Program Assistant works under the direction of the Volunteer Resource Coordinator.

The Volunteer Resources Program Assistant may be the first contact for volunteers and program staff in terms of day to day issues related to Volunteer Resources processes and systems. This position supports and models a customer service focus by responding to standard requests from internal and/or external clients in a proficient and timely manner.

The primary functions for this position focuses on administrative and technical volunteer resource support to the coordinator, volunteers and placement department staff to ensure volunteer involvement is positive.

This includes:
o Scheduling interviews,
o Screening and orientation of volunteers and follow up on paperwork required for these services
o Arrange the placement of volunteers with program staff and assist with general inquiries and training feedback
o Provide completion of screening, on-boarding paperwork and orientation, following standard practice, and forward any concerns to the Coordinator.
o Administrative support will include accurate and complete record keeping of volunteer files either electronic or paper. Entry and maintenance of all information on the electronic database to capture required information to prepare reports as required

Qualifications / Required Skills

Some College/University
Recent personal volunteer experience is required.
A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
A certificate in volunteer management or similar human service field, as well as VMPC Membership and CVA certification is preferred.
Minimum of two year related experience in a volunteer service environment ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity is preferred (healthcare experience an asset).
An equivalent combination of experience, education and training may be considered.
