The successful candidate for this position must possess the following qualifications:
Post-Secondary education required. University degree preferred.
Volunteer Management Certificate from recognized institution or equivalent work experience in the volunteer sector.
A minimum of 2 years working with volunteers in a healthcare setting. Experience in palliative or hospice care preferred.
Completion of HPCO training an asset.
Successful completion of Vulnerable Sector Screening within one month of employment.
Proficient in the use of MS Office.
Working knowledge of the Volunteer Management Cycle and experience in implementing recruitment plans, training requirements, retention strategies, and recognition activities.
Ability to evaluate and respond to the volunteer needs of the organizations.
Knowledge of the principles of adult education and the ability to develop and lead training.
Excellent interpersonal skills required. Ability to build strong professional relationships and facilitate teamwork.
Ability to manage multiple workplace demands through strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Training and/or experience in public relations, marketing of volunteer programs, and community networking.
Sound knowledge of community resources in York Region.
The successful candidate for this position must be able to:
Plan, organize and execute targeted volunteer outreach and recruitment strategies for both Margaret Bahen Hospice and Doane House Hospice.
Ensure that appropriate risk management activities are conducted as part of the volunteer screening, training and placement processes.
Develop, improve, and maintain the ongoing volunteer training program.
Lead the volunteer retention and recognition activities of the organization.
Collaborate with and support staff in the utilization and support of volunteers.
Represent the organization at community networking meetings including but not limited to the YRAVA.
Maintain good documentation, record keeping, and statistical reporting practices.
Maintain regular communication with volunteers.
Have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends and to travel to locations throughout our service area.

SALARY: $39,189 - $43,734 per year
