- Has at least one year's experience in the training of volunteers

This is currently a .75 FTE (30 hours per week) position

The Winnipeg Children’s Access Agency (WCAA) is a non-profit, charitable organization whose mission is to facilitate contact between children and their parents/legal guardians where there has been evidence of interpersonal violence. This is fulfilled through supervised visitations and supervised exchanges in a protected, neutral and child-focused environment. Volunteers are the life-blood of the service we provide.
JOB PURPOSE
The Coordinator of Volunteers fills a key position within WCAA, recruiting, screening, providing orientation and training, ensuring scheduling and ongoing support of the volunteer team.
Key Responsibilities
Is the primary recruiter for new volunteers, ensuring a solid volunteer base.
Collaborates with the Executive Director in the ongoing development of WCAA volunteer recruitment and in developing strategies for increased volunteer engagement and recognition.
Reviews volunteer applications, interviews, screens, completes reference, criminal record and abuse registry checks.
Provides initial training and education concerning interpersonal violence and the policies and procedures of WCAA Supervised Visitations and Exchanges.
Manages and tracks volunteer activity and program.
Regularly updates training materials and collaborates with the Executive Director to plan continuing educational events, including recruiting appropriate expertise to enhance training opportunities for volunteers in line with the volunteer recruitment strategies.
Tracks volunteer hours and experiences and updates volunteer files and databases promptly. The Coordinator of Volunteers is responsible for posting the Volunteer and Client Schedule each month.
Collaborates with the Case Management Coordinator and supports the coordination of the Monitor Mentor Program.
Reviews Observation Notes created by the new Visitation Monitors and provides additional feedback and support to Volunteers as needed.

Qualifications / Required Skills

A combination of Post-secondary education and experience in a related field
A minimum of one year of experience in the direct management of volunteers.
A minimum of one year of experience in developing a volunteer program.
Must have a good understanding of interpersonal violence and its effects
One year of successful experience working in an inclusive work team environment
Must show a demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
Must be able to work with little supervision and take initiative
Evidence of excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability in time-management, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work.
Must be proficient in using Microsoft 365 and Better Impact software applications
Demonstrated ability to handle occasional stressful situations
Strong attention to detail
Must be available to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends
This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, a Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Check.
Other related duties as assigned

The position will require working one evening shift per week and a four-hour shift once a month on a Saturday or Sunday.

Salary: Starting at $18.00/hour
