The Manager, Volunteer Engagement is an integral member of our team with responsibility for the delivery of Beacon Community Services Volunteer Engagement program of approximately 600 volunteers and over 3,000 clients. As a valued member of the BCS team you work closely with other BCS staff in the successful delivery of programs and services. The Manager, Volunteer Engagement recruits, screens, places, trains, guides, educates and supports volunteers ensuring that we have a strong volunteer program that provides much needed services, supports and engagement in our community. You are also responsible for a number of Volunteer Programs including the Youth Engagement Program working with area schools, Saanich Peninsula community groups and residents in providing youth training opportunities, work and volunteer experiences.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with Directors/Manager of Programs and Engagement ensuring alignment with BCS strategic plan, program goals, vision, mission and values.
- Develops, administers and reviews policies and procedures that guide Volunteer
- Oversees all aspects of Beacon’s Volunteer Engagement including working with staff to assess, monitor and evaluate the need for volunteers and to safely support volunteer program and service delivery.
- Recruits, interviews, screens, places, trains, supports, guides and engages BCS
- Prepares and monitors the Volunteer Engagement Also responsible for preparing applications, monitoring and reporting for applicable grants
- Creates, develops and maintains an up-to-date volunteer management
- Works closely with partner agencies, umbrella and community organizations as Beacon’s Volunteer Community Engagement representative.
- Promotes the volunteer programs and engagement within the community by creating and distributing newsletters, promotion materials and delivering presentations and
- Works with the Director of Communications to develop and implement communication tools and social media sharing Beacon’s Volunteer Engagement and Youth Engagement Programs with the community.
- Coordinates or supports Programs including: Youth Engagement Program, Restorative Justice, Advocacy and Visiting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post secondary graduation in a related discipline, including but not limited to a Volunteer Management Certificate, plus a minimum of two years related
- Volunteer and/or employee recruitment, selection and mentoring experience
- Experience working with community agencies
- Proven Leadership skills
- Event planning and public speaking an asset
- Valid BC Driver’s License
- Access to a computer and access to the internet
PREFERRED:
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (to be renewed upon expiry)
- WHMIS Certificate (to be renewed annually)
- Food Safe an asset
- Serve-It-Right Certification
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Tech-savvy with strong internet, social-media and software skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Database Management
- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills with a strong community service orientation
- Proven problem solving abilities
