Job Description / Duties

Volunteer Services is part of the Workforce Planning & Employment Strategies Community of Expertise (CoE) in part of an overall Partnership Model created to provide superior strategic cross-functional advice, analysis, support, decision making and resolution on a range of volunteer related matters. The Manager, Volunteer Services is accountable for providing operational leadership, direction, and coordination for the Volunteer Services function within Acute Care, Long Term Care, and all Primary Care Networks, including mental health, public health, and community based programs. The Manager will provide leadership for in-scope Volunteer Coordinators, as well as a Volunteer Workforce of over 5,000 individuals across various SHA portfolios and within the affiliated union agreements, supporting the health services for the people of Saskatchewan. The Manager is responsible for the development, alignment, and maintenance of volunteer programs, policies and practices, ensuring effective utilization of volunteer human resources within the SHA policies and the Canadian Code of Volunteer Involvement. Contacts include: provincial volunteer management group, post secondary educational institutions, community agencies, and professional volunteer organizations including, Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada and Administrators of Volunteer Resources - Saskatchewan. Committee work includes: SHA strategic committees and stakeholders, community agencies, health foundations, auxiliaries, educational institutions, and affiliated partners. Major Challenges: - Integrating a volunteer workforce within a paid unionized environment and ensuring the utilization of those individuals complies with Collective Bargaining Agreements. - Supporting and managing volunteer labour relations issues, including coaching and/or dismissal as required. - Implementing ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to volunteer programs, while maintaining a safe work place.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Required Qualifications

Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable
Undergraduate degree or diploma in Human Services, Administration, or Volunteer Management or equivalent combination of education and experience
Valid Class 5 Driver's license

Experience
- Experience, at an operational level, as a leader who has developed and led innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment. - 5+ years of experience in volunteer management or leadership positions. - Valid Class 5 drivers license.

Travel within the province of Saskatchewan is required
Where necessary, on-call responsibilities may be required in this position

Successful candidates external to SHA are responsible to obtain and provide an original Criminal Record Check (CRC) & Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) from their local police service, RCMP or previous country/countries of residence that is dated within the past six (6) months that is satisfactory to the Saskatchewan Health Authority.
