Job Description / Duties

Job summary
Coordinates the development and delivery of Volunteer Centre and Information & Referral services, programs and training. Promotes volunteerism in the community. Provides public with information on community programs, services and volunteer opportunities throughout the community.

Summary of essential job functions
• Coordinates and support the Volunteer Now and Community Services Database
• Coordinates Volunteer Match program
• Promote volunteerism in the community through media, events, publications and other methods
• Coordinates, plans, support, and deliver Voluntary sector training
• Facilitate effective volunteer management, to provide training and consultation for other agencies and individuals.
• Working with the General Manager, organize annual special events such as: the Volunteers are Stars Awards, National Volunteer Week appreciation event, Day of Caring, and Annual General Meeting
• With the General Manager, involvement in and/or operation of the Richmond Christmas Fund
• Recruit, screen, train, manage and evaluate program volunteers.

Qualifications / Required Skills

Minimum education and experience requirements
• Degree or certificate in social/health services, marketing/communications or related education/ training experience required
• Program planning and delivery experience
• Experience in the non-profit sector in the areas of volunteer management, public relations, community relations, marketing, events planning
• Thorough knowledge of Richmond and its services
• Experience working with people of all ages and ethnic backgrounds
Skills and abilities required
• Proficient in MS Office
• Excellent communication, writing, public speaking and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated group facilitation skills and ability to work independently
• Program planning and evaluation skills
• Ability to effectively promote and represent the agency within the community
• Fluent English with additional languages considered a plus

Additional Information

• Must possess a valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle with business class insurance
• Certification in volunteer management considered a plus
• Current CPR and First Aid or be willing to obtain
• Must successfully complete a Criminal Record Check
• Must be able to work flexible hours, some evening and weekends required

Salary: Commensurate with experience
