About Rocky Point Bird Observatory (RPBO)
RPBO is a volunteer-run registered charity that seeks to influence and inform ecological management practices and conservation of migratory birds in western North America through monitoring, scientific research, and public education. Approximately 150 volunteers give 10,000 hours of their time to RPBO each year. Volunteers can assist with bird migration work in the field by doing a variety of tasks (e.g., supporting bird banding at two stations, Sea Watch, conducting bird census), supporting RPBO operations and governance (e.g. serving on the RPBO Board of Directors, administrative and financial functions), fundraising, equipment maintenance, and public education (e.g. hosting community events, delivering presentations to schools, community groups, and seniors’ groups).
