Job Description / Duties

Volunteer Management (40%): Assess and ensure the volunteer needs of the Family Room are met on a daily basis including day, evening, weekends, special projects and events. Work closely with the Family Services Manager in communicating these needs and setting the job descriptions for volunteers. Develop working relationships with The Moncton Hospital Volunteer Department to encourage appropriate placement of hospital-recruited volunteers in Family Room positions.

Guest Relations (25%): The FRC is responsible for assisting and supporting guest families visiting the Family Room. This role encompasses the family’s complete experience in the Family Room as well as providing information about Ronald McDonald House Atlantic Canada and the services they provide. It is the responsibility of the FRC to ensure a balance is maintained between the needs of an individual and the effective functioning of the Family Room to serve all families.

Family Room Management/Operations (10%): The FRC is responsible for maintaining the Family Room as required on a day-to-day basis, always keeping families’ priorities first.

Home for Dinner Program (20%): The FRC is responsible for supporting the Home For Dinner program that helps ensure families visiting with us can enjoy warm, healthy meals after a long day at the hospital.

Communications (5%): Communicate effectively with all stakeholders (families, volunteers, staff, donors and outside agencies with an interest in RMHCA) in a timely fashion

Qualifications / Required Skills

Must exhibit a high level of responsibility and possess the personal characteristics of being warm, outgoing, compassionate, flexible, assertive, honest, trustworthy and professional
 Ability to work with families of children in times of stress or crisis
 Ability to work collaboratively with Hospital Personnel
 Post-secondary education preferred
 Demonstrated leadership skills
 Experience in training and/or facilitation
 Experience in Volunteer Management and scheduling
 Excellent community relations skills required
 Ability to work independently
 Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
 Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft programs
 Excellent communication skills
 Access to a vehicle
 Available for bi-monthly travel to Halifax
 Bilingual (English/French) would be considered an asset

Additional Information

Full time – (40 Hrs/wk) 9:30am – 5:30pm Family Room is open 7 days a week 9:00am – 9:00pm. Evening and weekend shifts will be required to compliment volunteer schedules and ensure effective oversight of the program. Coordinator is on call while Family Room is open. Flexibility in hours is required.

The Family Room Coordinator (FRC) for Ronald McDonald House Atlantic Canada is responsible for managing the daily operations and activities of the Ronald McDonald Family Room (RMFR) program at The Moncton Hospital, helping to ensure and facilitate the smooth and caring delivery of our services to Family Room guests. The FRC also maintains a close rapport with the Family Room volunteers and acts as a liaison between the RMFR, Moncton Community and the Hospital staff. The FRC provides support and acts as an advocate to all families visiting the RMFR, as well as maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality.
