Job Description / Duties

The successful applicant:
- Loves the strategy behind finding new ways to engage people to inspire them to become volunteers with us;
- Enjoys streamlining processes and procedures to make our internal processes as efficient as possible, leaving us more
time for recruitment activities to fill critical roles for our work;
- Believes in setting goals and targets to ensure the activities we’re undertaking are the most effective avenues for
recruitment and retention of existing volunteers, and enjoys analysing the data to guide future decisions;
- Believes that volunteer engagement, community relations and education are relational rather than transactional;
- Is passionate about making positive change in our community, loves working as part of a responsive and ever changing
team, and is happy to go ‘above and beyond’;
- Is prepared to take engagement and volunteer coordination to the next level; and
- Thrives on attending community functions, meeting new people, celebrating individual and community strengths, and
connecting the dots, and excels at challenging and new opportunities.
Expectations include:
- Leading the volunteer department by providing oversight, direction, insight, fresh ideas, and a solid plan to recruit and
retain volunteers;
- Working collaboratively with the Engagement and Communications Teams to develop and implement coordinated
engagement and marketing strategies that attract and engage volunteers and donors;
- Engaging the Volunteer and Service Teams to ensure we’re recruiting, orienting, training, placing, and supporting
volunteers effectively to meet their needs as well as the organization’s needs;
- Ensuring high levels of satisfaction amongst CSC’s volunteers by maintaining positive ongoing relations to ensure
engagement levels remain high;
- Initiating and organizing recognition events and activities and developing innovative ways and new opportunities to
improve the volunteer experience;
- Proactively seeking educational opportunities, public speaking and other promotional opportunities about CSC
volunteer opportunities are maximized and community relationships are enhanced and nurtured; and
- Accurately recording program related data and producing monthly and quarterly reports in a timely manner.

Qualifications / Required Skills

*Diploma/degree/certificate in a related field and 3-5 years related professional experience or equivalent combination
of education and experience
*Valid Driver’s License and daily access to a safe, licensed and reliable vehicle for business-related travel
*Willing and able to work occasional evenings and weekends
*Ability to speak languages other than English a decided asset
