Job Description / Duties

This Volunteer Services Coordinator part-time position (3 days per week - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) works closely with the site leadership team and will be empowered to develop a robust volunteer program which will support employees, residents and families through various activities and programs throughout the site.

In this role, you will continue to build and maintain Bethany Riverview’s volunteer program, engaging the local community, acting as direct liaison for volunteers, supporting site events and ensuring that standards of service excellence are maintained through all interactions with others.

Office Location: 200 2915 26 Ave SE Calgary

Position: Permanent, Part-Time

What You Will Do

Reporting to the Volunteer Services Manager, the individual responsibilities of this role will fall under the following areas:

Day-to-day coordination and administration of volunteers and the volunteer program at Bethany Riverview.
In collaboration with staff, assess current and future needs and plan for volunteer engagement and recognition.
Recruit, select and orientate volunteers according to site demand.
Develop volunteer position descriptions.
Liaise and work with community organizations and agencies to increase awareness of the Bethany Riverview site.




Qualifications / Required Skills

Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in volunteer program administration, human resources management or related field
Experience & Skills

Minimum of two (2) years coordinating volunteer programs.
Experience in a Supervisory Role
Experience as a volunteer preferred
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of dementia and related issues would be an asset
Ability to build and establish relationships with staff, community, residents and their families
Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities and meet strict deadlines
Highly self-motivated and community oriented
Superior organization and administrative skills
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in computer applications, such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
Previous experience with volunteer management software is an asset
Able to work effectively in a physically and mentally demanding environment.
Demonstrates ability to understand, speak, read and write effectively in English.
Excellent observation, communication and problem-solving skills.
