Job Description / Duties

– Develop and implement strategies to recruit and retain volunteers
– Coordinate volunteer assignments and schedules along with appropriate program coordinators
– Conduct orientations and trainings for new volunteers
– Provide ongoing support and supervision to volunteers
– Collaborate with staff to identify volunteer needs and match volunteers with appropriate opportunities
– Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours and activities using Better Impact
– Plan and execute recognition events for volunteers
– Evaluate the effectiveness of the volunteer program and make recommendations for improvement

Qualifications / Required Skills

Education, Training and Experience
– At least two years’ previous experience in a similar environment;
– Previous supervisory and interviewing experience;
– Relevant experience and education in volunteer coordination;
– Strong administrative experience;
– Experience and comfort with Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and preferably Canva and MailChimp;
– Experience with Better Impact is a strong asset

Skills and Abilities
– Ability to develop, organize, and implement a comprehensive volunteer program
– Ability to interview and assess skills and aptitudes
-Ability to train, coach, schedule, supervise, and evaluate volunteers
– Ability to plan and implement events for up to 50 persons
– Ability to manage time: organize and manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and creatively problem solve
– Ability to develop a diversity of relationships to serve various organizational and program outcomes
– Ability to speak comfortably to a wide array of audiences
– Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with a collaborative work style
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills
– Self-directed, self-motivated, organized and flexible

Additional Information

Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
– Clean Criminal Record check including vulnerable sector search required
– Class 5 BC Drivers License an asset
– First Aid certification with CPR an asset

Hours: 30 hours/week

Estimated Start Date: ASAP

Estimated Starting wage: $24/hour

Salary: $24/hour
