Job Description / Duties

Under the direction of the Vice President, Quebec, the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is also responsible for the execution of the volunteer program including; coordination of the screening process, onboarding and rewards and recognition of volunteers for Make-A-Wish volunteers across region. This position will support the volunteer needs of the chapter, supporting fundraising, administrative and mission volunteers.

What you will do:
- Execute and adhere to volunteer program requirements by supporting volunteer needs for region, including recruitment, screening, orientation, placement, training, recognition, stewardship, and evaluation
- Work with Mission and Development to ensure volunteer needs/priorities are fulfilled based on deadlines required.
- Research & understand the communities in which our wishes are granted, and where volunteers are required to provide MAWC community presence
- Through active sourcing activities, ensures a strong volunteer infrastructure is developed to provide support to teams across Quebec
- Ensure volunteer records are up-to-date and accurate through Salesforce (while adhering to confidentiality and privacy policies)
- Maximize the use of existing MAWC volunteer engagement tools and stewardship resources to ensure volunteers are being actively stewarded
- Attends regular meetings with stakeholder colleagues and attends events and wishes where required to ensure successful execution of program.
- Works with the Manager, Volunteer Engagement and colleagues across the country to provide feedback and best practices to ensure the development of best-in-class volunteer program,
- Works in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act in the applicable province of employment and its regulations, and complies with MAWC’s Health & Safety Policy
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications / Required Skills

- Post-secondary education, or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of 2+ years’ work experience, volunteer management focused
- Experience in leading the recruitment cycle, posting, screening and onboarding candidates.
- Demonstrated experience in leading facilitated sessions for volunteers, including orientations.
- Demonstrated experience in using databases; and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology. Salesforce experience an asset
- Experience providing customer service to highly diverse client base.
- Demonstrated ability to balance multiple demands from various stakeholder groups.
- Positive attitude: ability to take responsibility and be accountable; ability to deal with change in the workplace and be innovative; respect for others
- Must be highly motivated and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment on various tasks simultaneously
- Demonstrated experience in problem solving and good judgement
- Demonstrated time-management and organizational skills. Flexibility with changing priorities and ability to remain focused to meet targeted timelines,
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel) and experience working with databases and mass e-mail
- Works under pressure with multiple tight deadlines, demands, high volume workload, and dynamic/overlapping priorities
- MAWC is a nationwide organization and the ability to communicate and collaborate in French and English will be required.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is a requirement for this position.
- A clear Criminal Background Check required
- Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least 14 days prior to their first day of work, subject to relevant accommodations or exemptions.

Additional Information

- Occasional work outside of regular office hours to facilitate orientations and events
- Occasional day and/or overnight travel
- Emotional situations in dealing with wish recipients and families facing life threatening conditions or illnesses, in palliative care, and end-of-life stages.
