Job Description / Duties

Reporting to Assistant Executive Director, the part-time (minimum 21 hours per week) Volunteer Engagement Senior Manager oversees the successful running of the volunteer engagement program including full-cycle volunteer engagement, risk mitigation, communications, direct support and leadership of volunteers, and strategic planning for the department.

Responsibilities: 
- Manage the planning, administrative, and day to day budgetary functions of the volunteer program
- Together with the Assistant Executive Director, lead the development and implementation of the department strategic plan
- Lead, coach, and motivate volunteers, where appropriate disseminating the leadership and support to the volunteer team leads
- Lead full cycle volunteer engagement using best practices, considering risk mitigation, and the various needs of both volunteers and our programs
-Stay abreast of best practices and trends in volunteerism and volunteer engagement, and adapt the program accordingly
- Oversee program promotion, internal communications, produce reports, and manage the database   
- Collaborate with the Membership, Education, Development, Finance, and - - Communication departments to achieve the goals and mission of the VBGA  
- Manage, lead, and coach the Volunteer Engagement Coordinator
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Executive Director

Qualifications / Required Skills

Key Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills Required
- Post-secondary degree, a post-secondary certificate in volunteer management or equivalent level of education and relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience (including staff and volunteers) in a related field, preferably in volunteer engagement
- CVA designation is an asset
- Experience in educational course development is preferred
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products and CRM database software (Better Impact or similar) 
- Strong public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work well with a wide range of people 
- Outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills 
- Highly adaptable and able to prioritize as part of a small but fast and nimble team  
- Thinks strategically and is creative in planning and problem-solving 
- Innovative and enjoys leading change

Additional Information

A comprehensive salary and benefits package including an RRSP program is provided. Salary level will be commensurate with experience. This position currently works a hybrid of remotely and onsite.
